The profane-looking representation in contemporary clothing with breastplate is very rare to find. We know St. Florian actually only in full, medieval knight's armor. If we look at the head with the cap and the beard in the fashion of the South German Renaissance, this sculpture is strikingly reminiscent of sculptural works, for example, by Loy Hering and Daniel Mauch and other great carvers, or the paintings of Lucas Cranach the Elder, Albrecht Altdorfer etc. The great state of preservation underlines the historical significance of this sculpture.
