It is not about the capture of the climax of the fight, so it is not a violent, expressive or chaotic image. Rather, the artist has chosen the moment before or after, composing a scene of clear character and easy visual reading. Therefore, he develops the scene in several planes, where he combines the landscape with an architectural structure, which is not fully embraced by the viewer.This type of battle paintings were very frequent in Baroque Spain. Their dual purpose was to inform in a documentary way about the confrontations produced and also as an exaltation and political glorification. These two precepts came together at a time when Spain was suffering a great economic crisis, caused by the weak reigns of the Habsburgs, who were facing a large number of war conflicts that weakened the country.
