Leon Bakst Ballets Russes First Edition of 54 colored reproductions of the Costumes and Sets for Diaghilev's porduction of the Sleeping Beauty, France, 1922; title "L'Oeuvre de Leon Bakst pour La Belle au Bois Dormant, limited edition numbered 97/500 and signed in ink by both Leon Bakst and the publisher M. de Brunoff and includes a tipped-in print of "Portrait de Leon Bakst par Picasso. Original glassine covers and with most of broken gold tooled leather slipcase. The book height 15 1/2 inches (39.5 cm.) X width 11 1/2 inches (29.2 cm.). NOTE: While premiering at the Alhambra Theatre in London, 1921, this was the last of Bakst's collaborations with Serge Diaghilev, his longtime partner in the Ballets Russes, who approached him in 1920 to work with him in the production, 'The Sleeping Princess,' created by the famous choreographer Petipa and the director of the Imperial Ballet, Vsevolojsky.
