金刚萨埵发髻高耸，头戴花叶宝冠，宝缯飞扬，眼睛微闭，面容慈祥，身着天衣绸裙，双手交叉胸前持金刚杵，全迦趺于束腰莲花座上，上下缘无连珠纹，莲苞饱满鼓凸，瓣尖微翘，时代风格明显。金刚萨埵，梵文VAJRASATTVA 或VAJRASATTVA MAHĀSATTVA，西藏名RDO-RJE SEMS-DPAH！ ，义为金刚勇猛心；汉译金刚萨埵，是佛教典籍中与普贤菩萨同体异名的圣尊。萨埵者有情之义，勇猛之义，总言勇猛之大士。真言宗八祖中之第二祖，大日如来为第一，此金刚萨埵菩萨为第二。是佛教密宗极为推崇的圣尊。佛教认为金刚萨埵是一切众生菩提心的本体，其心性坚固如金刚，故名金刚萨埵。
