投壶为古代宴饮游戏，起源于六艺之中的“射礼”，在士大夫阶层内流行，每逢宴饮，必有投壶助兴，至明代晚期，投壶之式样多有变化。 拍品以铜为胎，呈立姿鹿形，头生双角，神态温驯，鹿背中空，身体两侧各设一背囊，内置铜壶，以作投孔。鹿身妆点以辔头、铃铛、璎珞等饰物，更显生动。瑞鹿在古人眼中为吉庆之祥兆，寓意长寿，又有富贵封禄之意。整器造型别致，工艺精湛。
