SHRIMPS AND CRABS BY QI BAISHI W.48cm H.166cm Description: Inscription: Baishi Inscription: Mr. Xian jiuren, an elegant, was painted in the west of the old capital by Qi Huang, the owner of Shan Yin Pavilion, at the time of the 460th year. Reference "It is strange that there are no fish and shrimps in the pond, but the lotus leaves is also beautiful." This is the classic quote of the Baishi inscribing a picture of a river shrimp. This painting , "Fish, Shrimp and Crab", is a gathering of several aquatic species that Baishi is best known for. It is one of the few works of Baishi to make a narrow picture so lively and rich. The plain crabs, the dexterous and nimble shrimps, and the small fish moving around are so innocent and lovely.
