STONE BUDDHA W.60cm H.95cm Thk.20cm Description: This is an old bluestone Buddha niche, with the Buddha sitting cross-legged on a lotus pedestal in a peaceful manner. The Buddha's face is round, his eyes are slightly open, with a slight smile. There are disciples and Bodhisattvas on both sides of the Buddha, standing on the lotus pistil, with lotus stems and leaves under it. The back screen is hollowed out and carved in the shape of a boat, with four flying gods on either side,their sashes fluttering, and a dragon carved in the upper center. Under the lotus platform, Boshan furnace is in the middle, and two lions and man of unusual strength are on both sides. The banyans rise from the ground, the branches and leaves interact and are symmetrically distributed, and the seated Buddha is symmetrically carved between the branches and leaves. Under the banyans , there are people with different postures, perhaps the statues of the offerers. The eyes are slightly open and drooping,seemingly not looking, seemingly smiling, appearing calm and powerful, and looking up to the high.Although the overall image of Buddha is very soft and beautiful, it makes people feel high and out of reach. It reflects the style of the Northern Qi Dynasty. The openwork design on both sides are complex and technically difficult, and the statue is vivid and exquisite.There are various figures, animals and plants, which are closely arranged and displayed together, showing the prosperity of the Buddhist country. All kinds of images are carved with characteristics: beautiful and soft lines, strong and powerful dragon, lively and lovely lions and colorful figures.
