LONGSCROLL PAINTING BY WANG HUI W.478cm H.31cm Description: Wang Zhishan was a famous painter of the Qing Dynasty. His paintings are mainly landscapes, which blend the strengths of the North and South, creating a new look of the so-called "South the brush and ink, North the gully", known as the "painting sage of early Qing Dynasty".Together with Wang Shimin, Wang Jian and Wang Yuanqi, he is known as the "Four Kings" of landscape painters, and together with Wu Li and Yun Shouping, he is also known as the "Six Artists of the Qing Dynasty". He was also the originator of the Yushan School. Wang had high attainments in painting theory. His theory of painting advocates "using the brush and ink of the Yuan, the gully of the Song, and then creating the rhythm of the Tang.
