GILT COPPER VASE L.22cm W.15cm H.28cm Wt.7520g Description: This piece is vase with two ears, with ganoderma lucidum shaped ears on both sides of the neck, and the ganoderma lucidum patterns are gold-plated. It is embedded with various gemstones, including jade, lapis lazuli, agate, ruby and malachite. It is decorated with eight auspicious patterns, for exmaple :cloud , Shou and Wan characters and bat. There is a four-character seal script mark "Ruyi Baozun" at the bottom.This magnificent and novel bronze vessel is inlaid with gems of various colors on a bright gilt ground, and the surface is decorated with ganoderma lucidum motifs, an eye-catching and royal style favored by the Qianlong emperor. The main inlay on the four sides are two white jade and two red agate"Shou" character pendants, set with ganoderma lucidum motifs, which have the meaning of longevity. The use of gemstone inlays as decoration on gilt bronze seems to have been particularly prevalent during the Qianlong period, although most examples seem to have been made as incense burners. One is in the form of a beast, such as a Lutuan incense burner in the collection of the National Palace Museum of Taipei, recorded in the National Palace Records of Incense Sets Throughout the Ages.
