Taisho (1912-26)/early Showa era (1926-1989)On of diamond shape, fitted on two sides with paired conforming stacked drawers under a three lozenze-shaped compartments set into the center of the top, one with a domed metal cover to house coals; the second a smaller smoking box fashioned with a single drawer under a small platform to hold a pipe and pierced to the front for heat under a rectangular aperture holding a metal handled container for coals fitted with a chased copper domed cover decorated with a dragon in clouds, all composed of well figured boxwood, a u-shaped container attached to one side fitted with a metal container for ashes; together with a short Japanese copper mounted bamboo pipe, a long bamboo faceted pipe with mixed metal /bird/ head, and a Chinese opium pipe fitted with jade terminals and mixed metal housing decorated with auspicious characters and endless knot, lacking bowl.8 x 18 x 11 3/4; 4 3/4 x 8 x 5 3/4in; 8 1/8, 17 7/8 and 18 3/4in long (5).
