A Set of Six Chinese Hardwood Spindle-Back Armchairs, Shubeiyi or Meiguiyi 20TH CENTURY 近代 紅木梳背椅一堂六張 each with a humpback toprail supported on rounded posts extending to the back legs and flanking the slightly curved round section spindles, with a matching series of spindles bracing stepped rectangular arms. The broad rectangular frame with hard seat is supported on legs of square section joined by stepped stretchers and the footrest above a plain apron. Height 37 x width 21 x depth 17 1/2 in., 94 x 53.3 x 44.4 cm. Acquired from JBL Antiques, Chicago, 1982
