A pair of early 19th century gold garnet earrings. Length 4.8cms. 3.8gms. With case. Overall condition good to fair. Moderate wear and some discolouration in keeping with age. One of the fleur-de-lis surmounts appears to be a replacement, original one slightly damaged to the right side. Garnets likely foil-back and appear a fairly deep slightly reddish purple hue. Garnets generally in good condition, one with a small chip. With hook fittings for pierced ears. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones. Metal tests as approximately 21-22ct gold. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition. For any further questions you may have on this lot, please do not hesitate to contact Ben Randall at ben@fellows.co.uk
