英石竪峰色泽青黑，石表嶙峋皴皱，节理曲折交错，如青铜玄铁表面的斑斑锈痕，凸隆处久经摩挲赏玩，包浆浓郁润泽。石呈柱状矗立，端宽平，向下渐收，近底处又饱满沈稳，使整体造型奇而不险，如一截古松老杉，影摇千尺，卓然竦峙。英石多耸锋芒，山势层叠间多如峰峦起伏，呈柱状者则颇不易得，宋范成大作《天柱峰》诗云“形摹三尺气万仞，世间培塿何由攀”，即是称赞如柱倚天，一峰峭竪的英石。拍品原配奇木底座。
