笔海取黄花梨大料一段，随形波折，浮雕为一段树桩状，原干皮壳，底镶软木，纹如流水。口沿平齐，与立帮之间转折利落。其雕刻手法落落大方，行云流水，树桩起伏的表皮如同彩带飘舞，兼以结疤、孔洞点缀，富于变化。整体气势雄浑，只取树桩之大意，不刻意模拟细节，妙在似与不似之间，达到了虽由人作宛自天开的效果。
