刘海戏金蟾为明清常见的祥瑞题材，传说刘海连钱为饵，戏钓金蟾为乐，故有“刘海戏金蟾，步步洒金钱”之民谚。此竹雕笔筒取竹一段，直筒。色泽深沉红润，包浆纯厚亮丽。减地浮雕刘海戏金蟾，刘海敞衣袒腹，咧嘴而笑，信步缓行，似嬉戏前方金蟾。神情丰富夸张，极富动感，处理简繁结合，人物发丝根根清晰可辨，衣褶线条层叠流畅，飘逸写实。可见竹人匠心独运，技法高超。下承底座饰连珠纹，三寿桃足。
