Vietnamese Bleu de Hue Porcelain Bowl W/Silver Rim & Four Claw Dragon Design (Has Nguyen Dynasty Thieu Tri Mark) - This white porcelain bowl was made during the Thieu Tri reign (1841-1847) of the Nguyen Dynasty of Vietnam. The bowl has a vibrant, cobalt blue underglaze with a scrolling four clawed dragon, and is finished with a silver rim. Most "Bleu de Hue" porcelain was ordered by the Vietnamese court by way of diplomatic missions to China, and most was produced in Jingdezhen with special designs and marks. Selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients, and to also protect them from damage. This piece is rare, as it was not made in China, but was actually made domestically in Vietnam, and bears the four character Thieu Tri mark of the Nguyen Dynasty of Vietnam. Measures: 6.25" diameter x 3.5"H.
