A gold-lacquer four-case inro By Kurimoto Ryosei, 19th century The vertical rectangular body with a kinji ground lacquered to one side with Ebisu crouching on a rocky shore, having just caught a fish, and on the other with Daikoku holding his mallet and carrying his sack of treasure over his back, all in gold and slight-coloured takamaki-e with hiramaki-e details, the top and base lacquered with karakusa ('Chinese grasses') and the interior of nashiji, signed Kurimoto Ryosei with a kao; with a simulated coral ojime. 9.9cm (3 7/8in) high.
