A rare lacquered-metal kozuka By Yamada Jokasai, after Kano Tan'yu, late 18th/early 19th century The black ishime ground lacquered with four prancing horses beneath a flowering cherry tree with clouds above, in gold and silver takamaki-e, the reverse of rogin-nuri with a single horse in sumi-e togidashi maki-e; signed Tan'yusai zu, Joka with a kao.
