A French Empire patinated and gilt-bronze and Sienna marble mantel clock, c.1820, with a three-quarter gilt dial set with Roman numerals, and a silk suspension movement striking on a bell, in a rocaille case with a seated classical warrior in a plumed helmet, on a rectangular base with a gilt portrait roundel flanked by wreaths, on anthemion feet, 31.5cm wide 13cm deep 47.5cm high Provenance: Farm House, Farm Street, Mayfair, London. Condition report: Replacement glass. Small frits and chips to edges of the marble base. Slight tarnish to the gilt areas. No key, pendulum or bell. Clock ticks away quite happily, but does not attempt to strike and there is no click approaching the hour. Striking train on left is overwound. Front glass over dial has twist turning bayonet fitting.
