此作以竹根老料圆雕制成，质地坚实，纹理细腻，经过多年存放早已稳定，无开裂、变形之虞。圆雕母子牛两只，皆体态滚圆，体格健硕。大牛双目圆睁，呈回首状，头角粗壮，四蹄蹲伏，有蓄势而发之态；小牛则双耳后撤，四蹄翻腾，有倒地之势，尾巴夹于后腿之间，像是刚犯了错误的孩子，场景生动诙谐。此作注重细节刻画，毛发雕刻尤其精彩，作者通过雕与刻的结合，尾巴处丝丝刻画精细，极具舞动之势，更添生机。 杨国强 工艺美术师，金华市工艺美术大师，浙江省根艺学会理事，浙江省工艺美术协会会员，浙江地区竹雕艺术领军人物之一。
