A mid 20th century 9ct gold sapphire and old-cut diamond brooch.Sapphire calculated weight 0.42ct, based on estimated dimensions of 4.4 by 4.3 by 2.8mms.Estimated total diamond weight 0.70ct, I-K colour, SI-P1 clarity. Length 6.3cms. 4.7gms. Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Diamond fairly well matched. Diamonds fairly bright. Sapphire medium blue, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions. Stones in good condition with minor abrasions. Some diamonds with slight brown hue. few diamonds with small dark inclusions. Diamonds in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Two diamond with surface fractures to kite facets. Sapphire is in good condition with minor abrasions. Two Length of cluster 1.2cms. Tests as 9ct gold. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked.
