An early 20th century gold sapphire and seed pearl openwork brooch.Sapphire calculated weight 0.52ct, based on estimated dimensions of 4.5 by 4.3 by 2.7mms.Length 3.2cms. 2.7gms. Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear. Sapphire medium blue, fairly well saturated, with typical inclusions. Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Seed pearls creamy white body colour, well matched. Seed pearls are vary slightly in size. Test as 18ct gold Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns. Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked.
