Spalla lived and worked on the River Po, and incorporated pebbles, stones and organic materials found by the river into his pieces. By combining elements from the river with wood, leather, Plexiglass and gold Spalla created a unique connection to the land within his works. Spalla died in 2010 but his work remains on display at museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Jewellers in Sartirana, Italy.
