雄雞居中，一爪提起，佇立巨石上之態，眼神炯炯似彌望覓食，英姿颯爽又富生命的情態。其造型極為寫實，雖僅用濃墨幾筆揮寫尾羽，黑如漆，將雄雞的形態神氣表露無遺；頭戴冠，紅如火，相輔相成，畫面層次豐富。 二雌雞呈覓食狀，羽毛散張，色澤黑灰白種透亮，質感極強，體現其體態之豐滿健碩，生機勃勃。整觀此作，筆墨潑辣凝重，純以水墨之工，表現雞禽之造型線條，實屬難能之作。
