In his own work, Schmid has developed a personal poetic approach to realism, and although he is perhaps best known for his nudes and floral still life paintings, he is also a superb painter of landscapes, as seen here in Spring Morning in Gaylordsville, a scene from the Connecticut town where Schimd and his family once resided.
