A Han Dynasty Painted Square Section Pottery Vessel and Cover. Of baluster form with four faceted sides raised on a tall spreading foot rising to a similarly shaped neck with everted rim, applied with a pair of fixed ring taotie mask handles, painted on a grayish-brown ground with pale green, red, and white pigments in imitation of Warring States lacquer designs, with the faceted domed cover. {Height: 16 3/4 inches (42.5 cm)}. Provenance: Property from the Richard I. Stone Estate. Condition: Overall surface wear, pigment losses, tiny chips.
