据《观佛三昧海经》卷四记载，一一之须弥山有龛室无量，其中有无数化佛。龛原指掘凿岩崖为空，以安置佛像之所。佛龛形制巨大，分为后室及前厅两部分，满工雕作。前厅有上下牙板，两侧立柱，均雕刻人物场景图，立柱上有缠龙及飞凤，姿态优美。后室有门四扇，门内可供奉菩萨。整器用工用料奢侈至极，不惜工本，才能造就如此完美艺术品，望有识之士宝之。
