拍品以端溪老坑水岩为材，色泽深紫，质地致密坚实，手感幼嫩细腻。形近四方，砚堂平坦，一角刻有井字砚池，余处不施雕琢，可见石料自有之蕉叶、鱼脑纹理，趣致天成。附旧配天地盖。北京瀚海五周年纪念册著录1995年拍出清早期井式石髓端砚一只，其造型、砚面纹饰与拍品相类，可资参阅。 《北京瀚海艺术品拍卖公司五周年纪念》，北京，1999年，页142，图198
