Pair Chinese Kangxi circa 1700 Blue & White Porcelain Teabowls, the sides fluted with 10 petals alternating 5 standing Ladies and 5 flowers on stems, the insides with a seated Scholar reading and the bases with 6 character Chenghua marks inside double rings all in underglaze blue. Height 2 1/2 inches (6.3 cm.) X diameter 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm.). NOTE: This is the type of Kangxi porcelain known to 19 century collectors like Rossetti, Wilde and James Whistler after their Dutch name, "Lange Lijzen" (lanky people). Whistler titled one of his most famous paintings, "The Lange Lijzen of the Six Marks" (the six marks were the Chenghua marks on the base.)
