Dimensions: 6-1/8" H x 6-3/4" Dia. Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Jia Qing blue and white porcelain brush pot. The Porcelain potted in brush holder shape, sturdily in cylindrical straight body, thick potted, deep curvature, slight tall and gentle upward to wide straight opening lip, raised on flat round foot base. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue underglazed, depicted of flying fu bats among cumulus clouds above thrashing lishui water and rocks. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, JiaQing Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
