该件铜龟衔耳杯砚滴制作精美、考究，形象逼真，通体错银丝工艺，头部填有王字。玄武是一种由龟和蛇组合成的一种灵物。龟前腿微曲，后退向后直蹬，其颈前伸，头昂立，双眼圆睁，口有一小孔，衔一耳杯，龟身均阴刻纹饰。背甲中央部位竖有一中空短管，短管外盘踞一条灵蛇，似爬行状，生动自然。龟体中空，水可由中部圆管注入，注满水后用拇指封住圆管，无论如何倾斜，水都无法从龟口处滴出。而当拇指移开后，稍作倾斜，水即可经龟颈从龟口的小孔滴出，以此来控制水的流量。这件铜玄武砚滴设计精巧，制作精致，为上佳之品。
