Bronze giltTibet, 17th century or earlierDimensions: Height 28,5 cm by 23 cmWeight: 5645 gramsThis is a wrathful version of the Tantric female Buddha Vajrayogini. Here the deity is shown in a dancing motion, standing on her left leg, the right leg lifted from the ground. Eight arms are spanning out to the side holding various attributes like a skull cup, a drum, a noose, a vajra, a crescent-shaped knife, an axe, a temple bell, a lotus flower, a lasso, a trident. A large skull garland is hanging down from her shoulders. Her body is adorned with various beaded necklaces and jewellery. The face is round with an opened mouth exposing teeth with tiny fangs. The eyes are bulging with angry eyebrows, the third eye in the center. Her head is decorated with beaded chains and a skull tiara with two sow's heads on the sides. In the center top of the hair-bun is a diamond vajra-half. The back of the figure shows the remaining long hair hanging down the back and the jewellery decorating the hips and legs.
