Doriot, Théodore French sculptor second half 19th C. Muse with lyre. Brown patinated and partially polished bronze. On the legs of the chair twice signed «DORIOT». H 21,5, W 18 cm. The sculptor, who worked in Neuilly-sur-Seine, was a pupil of François Rude and became famous in France mainly for his sculptures of the national personification Marianne, who adorns the French Senate and numerous town halls.
