Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Silk and Gold Buddhist Priests Shawl. This exceptional Japanese Kesa (priest shawl) is of almost transparent woven silk with extensive gold patterns throughout. Importantly this monks robe is highly decorated with mon (family crest) of the Tokugawa Clan which were the ruling Shogun family of Japan for centuries. So it probably would have been for a important clan Temple. Probably Meiji Period (1868-1908)
Size: 72” x 47 ¼”
