Three Chinese ivory carvings, 19th century, each with a bodhisattva wearing beaded jewellery holding a vase or a ruyi sceptre in their hands, seated cross-legged on a lotus pedestal on the back of a Buddhist lion or an elephant standing on clouds, in turn standing on shaped and galleried plinths carved with chilong and archaic scrolls, each figure approximately 28.5cm high, overall 36cm high (6) Provenance: From the family of 'Robber Baron' Jason 'Jay' Gould. 清十九世纪 象牙雕菩萨坐像 一组三件 Condition report: Some minor discolouration, especially to the reverse. Splits as to be expected. Details missing. Some parts of galleries to the bases detached, some missing. Signs of glue. Elephant figure - guanyin loose from the back of elephant. hat chipped with part and finial missing. Buddhist lion pair - the left figure with right little finger chipped, the right figure with item possibly missing from the bottle and warped base, both hats missing finial.
