One three-character set of larger red Kaishu characters meaning "abode of great refinement" (Da Ya Zhai) is always found adjacent to a red oval panel, encircled with dragons, in which are the characters "Heaven and Earth (i.e. "everyone") are united ("one family") in Spring" (Tian Di Yi Jia Chun). On the underside base of virtually all, a red four-character inscription which translates as "Eternal Prosperity and Enduring Spring" (Yong Qing Chang Chun). The particular examples shown here have resided for at least two generations with a local Virginia family.
