An unusual, antique, southeast Asian, big, bronze bodhisattva, probably Khmer or Thai or of the region. Probably 19th cent. Portraying Avalokitesvara, bodhisattva of compassion of all Buddhas. Depicted as a young man wearing a short, old style sampot, with a tall royal style ushnisha. The bronze is covered with a thick old layer of lacquer, with some incrustation mostly around the head, with the lacquer is missing. Standing on an old wooden base.
