Description
Translation provided by Youdao
An unusual, antique, southeast Asian, big, bronze bodhisattva, probably Khmer or Thai or of the region. Probably 19th cent. Portraying Avalokitesvara, bodhisattva of compassion of all Buddhas. Depicted as a young man wearing a short, old style sampot, with a tall royal style ushnisha. The bronze is covered with a thick old layer of lacquer, with some incrustation mostly around the head, with the lacquer is missing. Standing on an old wooden base. The facial expression seems more Khmer. Coming from an old collection from USA. Size net 68x20 cm, with the base 84 cm
