乾隆皇帝酷好文玩，又最爱美玉，加之平定回疆后玉料充足，故宫中笔筒往往以玉为之，样式雕工与竹刻相近。这件清乾隆白玉山水人物笔筒，选用优质白玉，质地细腻，色泽匀净，做工精美，以碧玉为底，筒身镌刻山水人物图景，山岩耸峙，奇松苍翠，庐舍清幽，山间小道上仙翁拄杖顾盼，童子含笑相随。此笔筒用料、形制、做工皆与清宫旧藏玉笔筒相合。
