Chinese Art. A rare composite wood lacquered wardrobe (dasijiangui, dingxiang ligui) China, Ming dynasty, early 17th century . An important red lacquered wooden wardrobe with precious and elaborate coral, mother-of-pearl and stones decoration. This type of furniture, characterized by the movable upper part and bright colours, was popular in China at the beginning of the 16th century as result of important commissions which valued the lively and precious decoration. The extant specimen are rare and sougth after by collectors. Provenance: Venetian private collection. Cm 94,00 x 216,00 x 56,00.
