Provenance: Daxler & Marschall, Munich, Germany Acquired directly from the above, 1996 This painting depicts Madame Vigee Lebrun and her 14-year old daughter sitting under a tree and sketching the cascades. In the distance can be seen Francois Menageot, director of the French Academy in Rome, and Vigee Lebrun himself. Vigee Lebrun's diary records the scene in great detail.
