满族为游牧民族，于弓马之上统一中原，最终建立清王朝。清代皇帝每年都要进行狩猎活动，除去本身之情感习俗，更重要的是保持八旗官兵传统之骁勇善战和醇朴刻苦的本色，抵御骄奢颓废等恶习的侵蚀，做到安不忘危、常备不懈。狩猎活动每年最少进行两次，春季称为春搜，秋季称为秋狝。整器制作精细华丽。该件作品即为狩猎这一历史活动在瓷器上的体现，类似作品传世少见。流传至今，甚为珍贵难得。
