拍品分内外双层，木质外框包裹菱形纹织物，均以丝面为地，绣绘花草竹枝，其上以染色寿山石嵌百宝作人物、树木、楼阁。外层嵌饰元杂剧《西厢记》中“听琴”一幕，张生于台上抚琴，莺莺携红娘于院中聆听。此类插屏往往另设隔层，暗藏玄机，别有洞天，秾华鲜美，落英缤纷，令人豁然开朗，流连忘返。
