Condition report: Oil on canvas which has been lined. The canvas tension is slightly slack and there are vertical undulations across the surface. The paint layer is stable overall. There are numerous retouchings across the surface. Some fine retouchings cover old cracks and others have been applied in a more brushy manner. There are retouchings to the right side of the sitter’s face. The varnish is clear, even and semi-mate. There are losses to the moulding on the frame and wear to the gilding which has been covered with metallic paint.
