陆鸿年，江苏太仓人。1936年毕业于私立辅仁大学美术系并留校任美术系助教，兼辅仁附中美术教员 。1937年兼任古物陈列所国画研究馆研究员，1938年为北京西郊北安河普照寺绘制《伎乐天》壁画。1939年师从黄宾虹攻山水，1949年后历任中央美术学院中国画系讲师、副教授。北京工笔重彩画会副会长。
