STATUETTE OF THE BUDDHA OF THE FUTURE, AMITABHA in wood formerly lacquered and gilded, represented sitting in dhyanasana on a double lotus, hands joined together in front of him in dhyana-mudra. He is dressed in a monastic robe falling in heavy folds and wearing a simplified bun which was to accommodate a tiara brought back. Two open cavities in the back were to receive prayers.
