Alexandre A. Labas (Russian, 1900-1983), portrait of a young man, oil on paper mounted on board, signed L/R and dated 1942, 18 3/4" x 14 1/2", frame 22" x 17 3/4". Provenance: Artist's gift to a family of Polish Jewish refugees in 1942 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (during WWII), later acquired from an art dealer in Israel and then by the present owner in Swampscott, Massachusetts.
