2 Chinese Early 19 Century Incised Scholar's Bronze Hand Warmers, the first in polished white bronze (baitong) incised around the sides and across the single handle with pairs of deer, cranes, trees, flowers and lingzhi and part filled with a black enamel or metal, the cover pierced with a flower petal screen; the second in brown bronze in a quatrelobed shape, each lobe with a design of "Antiques" and flowers, the cover pierced with further "Antiques" on a Wan trellis and scrolling Lotus & leaves, double handles incised like bamboo. Width of white bronze warmer 6 1/4 inches (15.8 cm.). Width of brown bronze warmer 7 7/8 inches (20 cm.). PROVENANCE: The second brown bronze hand warmer with a receipt dated 1976 for Mr. & Mrs Eugene Parker of Little Rock, Arkansas from Kazuko Oriental Arts of the same city and a label dating this warmer as Daoguang period. Both with light age related wear, small minor dents and small scratches, the white bronze with a short separation to one corner of base.
