A George III silver vinaigrette, of rounded rectangular form with stippled and punch engraved decoration and vacant oval panel, the hinged cover opening to reveal a lozenge pierced silver-gilt grille, hallmarked Birmingham, probably 1814, maker's mark IT, probably John Thropp. Together with a George IV example, of similar form and decoration, the hinged cover opening to reveal a foliate pierced silver-gilt grille, hallmarked Birmingham 1822, maker's mark TS, probably Thomas Shaw. Length of largest example 2.5cm, total weight 16.4 grams. (2).
