An impressive early Victorian silver twin-handled and lidded champagne cooler or vase, the baluster body decorated in relief with various foliage above stylised stiff leaf borders and a circular footed base further embellished with leaf motifs, each handle moulded as entwined branches and applied with a putto figure holding a wreath in his outstretched arm, the removable lid with repeated stiff leaf borders and surmounted with the seated figure of Lady Justice. Hallmarked Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard, London 1839. Maximum height 17.5 (44.5cm), gross weight 105.67 ozt (3287 grams).
