An early silver church chalice, possibly 17th century, the hexagonal-sided spread base with a border of Latin inscription dated 1636, with an acanthus motif to each corner and one panel engraved with a scene of the Crucifix below the Latin initials 'INRI', and rising to a conforming hexagonal stem with large central knop below a slightly flared plain cup with gilt interior. Appears unmarked. Height 8.25 (21cm), weight 9.36 ozt (291.2 grams).
